Once upon a time, a long, long time ago in Hollywood 1920, a set artist built himself a cozy cottage of half timbering and clunker bricks high up in the San Gabriel Mountains. For lighting he handmade lanterns naming them Elf and Jester as he was a whimsical sort of fellow. The design really took off and was popular throughout the 1920's and 1930's, but became lost in the mists of time during World War II. Researchers for the Mica Lamp Company rediscovered the design in 2003 and Elf is one of the results. Handmade in Glendale CA with metalwork hand cast iron and steel with an exceptionally rugged and durable Rust Iron Finish. Mountain high or seaside wet Elf is one tough lantern. The shade is Almond Mica weatherized for wet outdoor use. (If you want Orange Amber Mica just let us know.)
